It was one of those days today, you know, the kind where you never should have gotten out of bed? Yep, it was so bad, it was almost comical. I'll just give you the highlights.
5:00 a.m. Alarm goes off for gym. Not feeling good today, go back to sleep.
5:30 a.m. Feeling guilty for not going to gym. REALLY not feeling well. Can't go back to sleep, so I go downstairs to make a cup of hot tea and lay on the couch
7:00 a.m. Everyone else starts waking up. By now, I am laid out on the couch, coughing hacking away, shivering, miserable, can't think straight. I lay there completely useless while Eric does everything to get all three kids up, dressed and get himself ready for work.
8:45 a.m. Debating whether I even feel up to getting Linzi to preschool. It starts in 15 minutes, so I decide to throw on some clothes and take her.
9:00 a.m. Out the door, no makeup, looking downright scary, but too sick to care. Drop Linzi off at preschool.
9:05 a.m. I get the brilliant idea that coffee will perk me up and then I can go shopping, so I head to Starbucks. A little retail therapy always helps.
9:15 a.m. The Starbucks lady is looking at me all sympathetic-like. Now I have a complex. Do I really look as bad as I feel? I decide to skip shopping and go home. This is where I should have ended my day.
12:00 p.m. I leave to pick Linzi up from school. Once again, I decide to try and get out. BAD IDEA. First I call Eric to see if he wants to meet for lunch. While I am waiting to hear back from him, I remember that Alex needs a jacket with his school logo. It's supposed to be cold tomorrow, so I HAVE to get it today. His teacher had told me of a place on the square in downtown of our town. I don't know the name of the store, or the address. But it is on the square, how hard can it be. While I am driving there, Eric calls and we make plans to meet after I get the jacket. While I am talking to him, I circle the square THREE times and do not see a uniform store of any kind. By now, I am done looking and decide to just meet for lunch and go to another uniform store that I know of. Eric was at his desk, so he googles it, gives me directions and I find the store. It was NOT on the square! I go inside only to find out the jacket is nothing more than a navy blue hoodie with school logo and it costs $35. I can get the same jacket at Target for $10 and pay a couple more dollars to have the logo put on. So I leave. This is where it starts to get ugly.
As I am pulling out of the store, there is a curb that is really more like a retaining wall. I drive a large SUV and I cannot see over my right front corner. I thought I had cleared the curb, but I hit it. My car was STUCK on the curb and dangling about three feet off the ground!!! On the other side of the curb is a major busy highway. Bad, bad situation. The lady in the store comes out and says it happens all the time?!!! The guys at the tune up place across the street can try to jack it up off the curb. By now, all the guys across the street are lined up and looking and probably laughing their heads off. One guys comes over and says he can get it off, but I will need to give him $30. So, after about 30 minutes of jacking the car up, only to have it fall back down on a concrete wall, they finally got it off. Then I go in my purse to give him the money and guess what? I don't have any cash! No checkbook, just a debit card and a few credit cards. I had to tell the guy I would be right back and drive down the street to get some cash out. Meanwhile, Eric can't wait for me anymore, so he goes to lunch and my lunchdate is off. AND I STILL have to get that stupid jacket! I did manage to find the jacket at Target and get the logo on before it was time to pick up Alex. The jacket & logo was only $15, but I still had to pay for my bad driving. Should have ended my day there, but nooooo, there's more folks!
3:00 p.m. After picking Alex up from school, I was doing a little picking up around the house. I dropped Alex's cell phone over the cat walk upstairs and it smashed on the tile floor 15 feet below. Not good. Alex was distraught because I broke his phone. I felt horrible, so we load up and head out to the cell phone store. As we are waiting to make a left hand turn, another car in the oncoming side runs a red light, almost hits the car in front of me and does smash into another car. No one was hurt, thankfully, but the driver never even got out of her car to see if everyone was okay. I stayed to give my statement to the police that she did run a red light, not just ran the light, but was FLYING through. Oh, and to replace the phone cost me $50.
5:00 p.m. Mandi gets home from school and informs me that she is not ready for the report that she has due tomorrow. Part of the assignment is to dress up like her character, which happens to be Sir Isaac Newton. Just how in the world do you dress up like that and WHY am I just now hearing about it the night before? So off to the mall we go. Eric is nervous about me going anywhere at this point, but I must. So I do, with constant prayers under my breath! Of course there is nothing in the mall that remotely resembles Sir Isaac Newton, or anything a man might have worn in 1610. Mandi finds a black jacket that she thinks will work. It's $100!!! She's stressed, I'm stressed, we have no other options. I buy the jacket only because she promises me she really likes it, it is fashionable, and now it is her winter jacket. Crazy.
7:00 p.m. Heading home from the mall. There's blue lights in my rear view mirror. My stomach drops. What did I do? The police car whizzes past me. Must get home, but wait, no dinner and it's late. I stop at Publix for subs. The lady doesn't speak english very well, she messes up my order. I don't have it in me to try to correct her. I just let it go. Instead of an ultimate, we got an italian. Instead of spicy mustard, we got yellow. Who cares? As we are checking out, Mandi informs me that she needs something for the shoebox project, oh, and it's due tomorrow. Of course! So we run around the grocery store grabbing a few things, I remember a few things I have at home. We are done. Going home.
The bill for today's mishaps = $180. Yep, $180 that I could have happily spent shopping for something good. Instead, I spent it on getting my car off a curb, replacing a cell phone that I broke because I am a clutz and buying my daughter a jacket so she could look like a man in the 1600's. Crazy, bad day!
11:30 p.m. Miserable, sick, tired, can't sleep. PLEASE let tomorrow be a better day!

Oh you poor soul.....hope today is a better day! DON'T GO ANYWHERE! *Wink*
I just realized I put my comment under the wrong one- sorry. My mind isn't working very good today. :)
Today has to be better!
That school stuff is SOOOO aggravating! Ryan used to have to do that stuff and it would drive me bananas. How is it learning anything anyway to dress up like these people???!!?? AND they always say don't spend anything wear what you've got like we happen to have this stuff lying around and a teen is going t wear it?!! ugh...
Praying today is way better...
Poor you, I hope things are looking better today :D
Wow! I am sorry you had such a terrible day. I hope yesterday was better and that you just took it easy.
It is hard when you're so sick and still have to be the mommy.
Hang in there and hope brighter days are around the corner.
Lisa
Hope you are better and have a great weekend! ;)
Maybe you should have just went home after Starbucks. :)
Seriously, I have had days like this and you wonder how you ever made it through the day. Here's hoping that tommorow brings you a much better day. :)
I laughed outloud at your statement "so she could look like a man in the 1600's"! Sorry to laugh at your pain - at least Tuesday is behind you and your car isn't hurt! I hope you are feeling better...
